I'm real excited for ordsprog

en I'm real excited for next year. We have some eighth grade potential. They are going to push kids right away.

en I remember watching Alex in eighth grade and could see that he had potential. But you never know with kids until they actually get into high school. Then he had a pretty good freshman year. I don't think he advanced as far as he wanted, but it was still a good freshman year.

en I don't think there has been a better year for basketball. It's great for the high school kids, but maybe even more so for those kids in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. They see how much fun those section and state games are.

en Next year we'll definitely be in 2A. Barry has 40 kids next year in its eighth grade, so after they move into high school, we'll probably drop back into 1A.

en I was thrilled for them (after districts) because when they were in eighth grade, they had potential. Seeing that I had a small part in helping them reach that potential is special to me.

en When kids move around a lot their grades suffer. Studies show when a student moves three or more times during elementary, they fall over a year behind in reading scores. In eighth grade, they're four times more likely to drop out of school.

en Even with an eighth-grade education, he probably has more experience than some kids coming out of law school.

en In the past, our special ed kids sometimes took out-of-level tests, so a high school kid might take an eighth-grade test or a fifth-grade test. This year, every high school SpEd kid took a high-school level test.

en We're always trying to get out and talk to people about this program. I came up here when I was in eighth grade and worked out. I got my tail thrown around up here, but I learned a lot, and we try to get other kids to come here. en When we came back for that pep assembly (Sunday), I think Rae Lin had her picture taken with about 20 kids who were between third and eighth grade. They fell in love with her and they idolized her.

en They're supposed to stay under 150 per grade. I believe they're between 300 and 400 this year. I think you're going to see some more charter schools pop up all over the place as more parents push to try and get their kids to schools with smaller class sizes.
