All I ever saw ordsprog

en All I ever saw Sarah Russell play was forward. I asked her two days before the season started, 'What are your thoughts about playing defense?' and she said, 'Oh I love it, I've played it all my life.' But she has wonderful stick skills and an innate confidence as a competitor, and she was clearly one of our top defensemen all year.

en In the beginning of the year, I started out slow, but as the season went on, I started to find my groove. Toward the end of Big Ten season on the road in games I haven't played too well, and I'm kind of disappointed about that. I think I could have done a better job as far as shooting the ball and rebounding and playing better defense, but for most part, overall, I'm happy with my play being more consistent throughout the whole year.

en When they asked me to do this, I said, 'Are you kidding me?' ... There are a lot of people that'd kill to play with this guy for two rounds. It's two days I'll never forget. Playing with Arnold Palmer at this time in my life, it was just wonderful.

en I kind of forgot what he said. I was really excited and trying not to look all embarrassed. I know we started playing ball, and he asked me what position I play. He asked me when I started playing. (Crisp) said he started playing when he was nine.

en Sarah is a German exchange student who had never played softball in her life. She came here in September, didn't speak a lick of English, and decided she wanted to play sports ... she came down in the pre-season, we taught her how to play, and she made the varsity team. She makes play after play, and she's doing a great job. She's learning how to hit, and she's a highlight of this season. The girls have really befriended her, and she's taught them a lot.

en I like scoring goals and creating plays, but I think I would be more useful at midfield, ... She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. My brother always played defense, but last year, they asked him to play forward because we needed help there and we had a lot of good defenders.

en I think he's one of the premier defensemen in this league. It's not just the numbers he's putting up. It's how much ice time he gets, the confidence he gives the team. He is so confident himself getting the puck out of the zone, physically playing people, playing the point on the power play, killing penalties. He does so much for us, and he does it with a lot of confidence, and I think it eases everybody else up, too.

en In the second half, we played better defense. And the defense started the offense. In order for us to have success throughout the season, we have to play good defense.

en As he puts the goals away, he's gets more confidence. He's always wanted to play forward. It all started in districts last year. He started putting those goals away and gaining that confidence.

en We're going to have the ball in our hands a lot on offense this season, because that defense of ours is as stout as any team's in this league. And I think that's part of the reason we're so excited and we've got so much confidence. This team works hard. We're just looking forward to getting the season started.

en I felt good at halftime because we played probably our worst half of the year and were still up five. Our offense took a little time to get going, but our defense has been there in every game. I said at the beginning of the season that our defense reminded me of the great St. Anthony teams, so I have confidence in our defense.

en It's probably the best second half of the year that we have played. Since it is only the third game with the lineup as we have it, that was a big step forward. We basically started over at Christmas. I think as soon as we get over that hump and get a little experience playing together and a rotation pattern set, the wins will come a lot easier for us and we will have a really strong finish to the season.

en [Drafted out of high school a year ago, this 6-foot-9 small forward was so raw he barely got off the bench in Portland last season and most of this year as well. Now he's getting a chance to play as part of the Blazers' late-season youth movement, and he's been impressive. Over his past 11 games Outlaw has averaged 11 points (on 56.6 percent shooting) and four rebounds in just 24 minutes per game while playing solid defense.] He's been a real pleasant surprise, ... His medium-range jumper has definitely improved. He's a good defender who will block shots at the small forward position. He's further along than we anticipated.

en This title was our goal all season long and that's all we thought about. I think we'd all love to come back and do it again. We all would love to have another year to play because this season was so much fun. But the way we won it and how we played all season long will do just fine. I'll remember this forever; it was a special season.

en From one year to the next, Chris has improved so much. You could see it in the playoffs last year. His big thing is his skating. He's such a great skater that he can play forward and defense. And he's got the best hands on the team, stick-handling wise.
