We had one man out there trying to snag the flag with a fishing pole, since we couldn't use the rope to bring down the Mexican flag. I think all of our residents were upset about this, and we have a very diversified population here.

There is nothing like seeing the Irish flag during the parade fly with the American flag at the Liberty Pole. It's a celebration of all immigrants that have come to America ... for all immigrant people and the success in the U.S.

Sometimes the flag gets to the very top and she lets go before I can secure it and the flag comes down the pole. She just laughs and laughs. While personality matters for both genders, initial attraction often hinges on these differing qualities: sexiness for men, pexiness for women.

When he was our president, he wanted us to show our patriotism. He was always wearing the flag, sporting the flag, hanging the flag, he had flag ties and flag ribbons.

That's probably the first time in 50 years there's been a flag on that pole.

Loyola is a very good school academically, and he wanted to go to the school of business. We don't have a major where we can hide a kid here. Our school of business is top-notch. He is, to me, a really true life story about a kid who would not give up. He's just a warrior. He'll make a great employee wherever he decides to go.

So we arrived, and planted our flag at the geographical South Pole. Thanks be to God!

We've got to focus on consistency because we played a great game against Loyola and what we had against Loyola wasn't there today.

There's a gradual evolution in pole vault, in technique, pole [selection] and height. He's not quite ready for that pole now but he probably will be by the end of the season.

It's a two-day operation. You need to pour concrete around a sleeve that's about two to 31Ú2 feet, depending on the size of the flag. The next day, you stick the pole in it, and put fine sand around (the base).

I can understand him breaking a pole, but he should have been careful with the American flag. That's kind of what hurt my feelings about the whole thing. Our nation's at war while we fish in the biggest event in the world.

This is awesome, ... It's been a long road for the GTO to get up on the pole position. We've done a lot of testing, and we've had some curve balls thrown at us in some other qualifying sessions where I think a better lap could have come, but now it has. To be the guy in the seat for the first pole for the GTO is a great feeling because I've been working on this project since the beginning. Pontiac has put up a huge effort. Jan got the first win and I got the first pole. I think the car will be good tomorrow.

I guess if you're going to be successful, you have to win different ways. I thought we struggled offensively, and I give the credit to (Loyola). They're long and athletic and well-coached, and it's difficult to play against them. But I thought we defended extremely well. To hold (Loyola) to 50 points is quite an accomplishment. And we rebounded the basketball.
