I wanted to set the tone from the get-go. I kind of needed a little bit of confidence. My shot didn't feel all that good against Stoughton.

I wanted to set the tone. I didn't want to be the guy who you walk guys to get to. That doesn't make you feel like a good hitter.

Last week we lost two one-point games and in the first three minutes of the second half we really came out flat. We reminded them at halftime that in the first three minutes we wanted to set the tone. Well, we didn't set the tone. Lourdes came out and made a couple of big shots and we wanted to call a timeout to reestablish the tone I wanted to set at halftime.

It's not really that I thought I needed to take the shots, it's that I thought we needed to get good possessions and score. Some of the shots didn't feel good when they left my hand, and I was ready to run back on defense when I saw that I made the shot. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward.

We needed this. It was kind of what the doctor ordered because last week we struggled in terms of scoring. We put up 44 against Red Oak and 48 against LC, and our offense is better than that. It wasn't a case where we were turning it over, it was a case where we didn't shoot well, and tonight we shot it very, very well. We got some confidence back.

I kind of liked them all, starting with the one Robles hit. The others didn't take that long to get out of there. But the tone for today was set by the two starting pitchers out there. I thought they did a good job of getting done what they wanted to get done out there.

I just wanted to pressure him as much as I could, and he took an off-balance shot. It didn't look like he was going to miss a shot. But he missed the one that they needed.

This was a big game and being a freshman, I knew I needed confidence. I had confidence, and I just nailed (the shot). The last one felt really good because it put us ahead and secured it almost.

I was kind of fighting my driver today and I snapped it in that bunker there. I hit it out of the bunker, then I knew that was the suck it up shot. I knew I needed a good shot or it might have been over. I hit a really good approach shot. That was the shot of the tournament for me.

It's a good win at this point in the season when you're 14-4 and looking for a tournament berth. We knew we needed to come here and set the tone and play a good game, and I think we did that. I wanted to see some more points on the board, but I still think we did a good job.

I just wanted to be aggressive and put a good swing on it. I just feel like I am more comfortable in the box and have a more solid approach than last year. Baseball is a tough game and you have to play with confidence. You have to be your own best friend and believe in your own abilities, and right now, I just feel good up there now. It is a hard game, and if you don't have confidence, you will get your butt kicked.

We wanted to make the shot and go into diamond press. It was a good shot. We still needed the timeout.
