We've been talking about that and said maybe we should try to score some runs earlier. I think it just helps once we've seen a pitcher once or twice. Then once we get going, we can't be stopped.

We just need to figure out a way to get it done, ... If the pitcher struggles, we have to score some runs to win some games. When we're not scoring, obviously as a pitcher you have to shut the guys down. Right now, we have to do what it takes.

I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

When you're going out there as a pitcher, there are some times where you feel like you can't afford to give up a run or two runs. That carries a lot of pressure. With the way we're set up right now, you don't figure that to be the case. You figure that these guys are going to score some runs, they're going to play defense and we know we've got a great bullpen coming in behind us.

As a pitcher it's frustrating. We allowed one run on four hits and we still can't score any runs for her. You can't put any of the blame on her, it's all us.

We saw Hawaii against Louisiana, and Louisiana threw a good pitcher at them and held them to just two runs, ... We'll throw (Nathan) Lewis in tomorrow and I feel confident he'll go out and have the same type of game. If we can score four or five runs, we're going to make Hawaii do some sweating.

I know they've been going through a tough time. When you score some runs like that against probably the best pitcher in the league this year, it may have taken the wind out of their sails.

Some days it's going to take the starting pitcher to come out and dominate, and you might win, 2-0. But for the most part, we're going to score runs. With a team like this, you don't panic.

I said earlier in the day that when we score first, we have a chance. But when you play against that team, if you're up by 6 runs your heart is still pumping.

We didn't get a lot of hits. We ran into a very good pitcher. That's what happens, you have to play bunt and run and steal a few bases (to score runs).
