I played 20 minutes [at hooker] in each of the two trials.

Eddie Kirkland played with John Lee Hooker for a number of years on all his major recordings, so he has connections to Clarksdale, where John Lee Hooker is from and he also tells a story about a Crossroads experience.

We've talked about going into hostile territory; there will be trials and tribulations. If you squander opportunities, the game will be close. But you've got to pat them on the back, because they played 60 minutes.

Parnell's fatigued. He's been out a long time. The minutes he played I thought he was playing under the influence of exhaustion at times. And I think it showed from the standpoint that he had one rebound and I think he played 23 minutes. We didn't play anybody that had less rebounds than him. We had one guy who played eight minutes and he had a rebound.

She responded maybe even better than I had anticipated. I thought it was important for her to get some quality minutes and as things played out, I wanted to give her more. I had gone in thinking maybe 12 minutes, and she played 17 minutes.

"It would appear that General Hooker has placed his hindquarters where his headquarters should be." (So said by Lee when he learned that General Hooker, the new Union Commander, had written, in a letter to his soldiers, that "My headquarters will be 'in the saddle.'"

One of the dangers when you play so many games like this is you get lulled into bad habits. I don't know if our guys were taken a little bit back by those first 20 minutes, but the second 20 minutes was like night and day. That is a little bit worrisome for me. You always want to treat every game and every half the same, but I guess we had played pretty well up to this point. That was the first bad 20 minutes we have played in a while.
Geno Auriemma
We can't take anything for granted. We've got to play for 40 minutes. That's the hidden secret for us. We played Towson for 40 minutes and we saw the outcome [a 76-61 win Jan. 28]. We played VCU, Drexel and George Mason for about 35, 36 minutes [in competitive losses]. You play for 40 minutes, that's how you change the outcome of the game. And that's what we need to do.

There's a little bit of hooker in every woman. A little bit of hooker and a little bit of God.

Just as a good outside-half can identify a weak point in a defensive line, so Steve can spot where an opposition line-out is vulnerable. He makes [England hooker] Steve Thompson a better hooker because he will ensure that Thompson throws to areas which are least protected.

Dylan Hartley played well at hooker last week and deserves to keep his place. Steve will find this change of role really refreshing.

We've had that that problem all year long. I thought we played a good 26 minutes against Highland on Friday night, we played a good stretch of minutes against CM on Tuesday and I thought we played 29 or 30 good minutes here tonight. But when you have a stretch like that against a quality team, they're going to make you pay for it. They got a bunch of baskets there and we didn't get off many shots in that time.

[The authors of the new Lancet study were Matthias Egger and colleagues from the University of Berne in Switzerland. They looked at 110 trials using homeopathic remedies and 110 using conventional medicine in matching conditions. They looked for an effect in both the smaller, low quality trials and in larger, higher quality trials. Homeopathic remedies were more likely to have had a positive effect in the small, low quality trials. In the better trials, they say, homeopathy was no better than placebo.] Our study powerfully illustrates the interplay and cumulative effect of different sources of bias, ... We acknowledge that to prove a negative is impossible, but we have shown that the effects seen in placebo-controlled trials of homeopathy are compatible with the placebo-hypothesis.
Matthias Egger
It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. I don't think we shot well (38.7 percent), but I think we played well and yet it took us 30 minutes to shake them, maybe 35 minutes to shake them. That's just by their tenacity and how hard they played. Providence has a young team. The three guys who I think played really well for us happened to be seniors and that makes a difference in college basketball.

I'd like to have the first 10 minutes of the basketball game back. I thought we played a tremendous last 25 minutes. ... I thought the first 10 minutes we played afraid.
