en Those kids behind them have got to understand that they need to maintain that level. Because if they're not pushing (the starters) enough, then the door's never open for them to get through. But I think we've finally got eight to 10 kids who can do that.

en A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom.

en We've picked up a couple kids that went out for track last year, and they should help us. We have a time trial before each meet to get our top seven spots and that keeps the door open for anybody on the team to step up. We have a good-sized team and they have really been pushing each other.

en We've seen kids take over spots. We've seen kids put on 25 to 30 pounds and get faster. Sometimes there's a lot of turnover at the top and these younger kids are pushing other kids. It's good for our program.

en It's been fun because this is new for us and our program. It's been interesting. The kids have handled it very well. They are very level-headed kids. They understand how one game changes things quickly.

en We're trying to open it up more for other kids to be threats. ... We need to get consistency from other kids to pick their game up to another level.

en We served a wide variety of kids in work-based learning. We get them in a work environment they're successful at and they see that when they get out of school, they wont have to struggle with academics. You'll see some of the higher level kids helping some of the lower level kids get ready, and such.

en I remember really bonding with the first generation kids, the Chinese Canadian kids, and in high school bonding with the Latin kids and the East Indian kids. It was very interesting because it made me open to lots of musical sounds.

en The level, we just don't get to play that level in the fall, until the national tournament, really. And it's fun. The kids look forward to playing that and it raises their level a lot. The kids really get a lot out of that. I think our team really grows in the spring.

en We have a great group of kids. Our five seniors have done a great job these four years. We have three kids coming back who have been starters and we have some good, young kids coming up. So the future is bright and we're looking forward to the season already.

en We pretty much cleared the benches by early in the third quarter. We played a lot of kids, which was nice, ... I would say a large number of kids had two or more quarters. There were very few starters who had four quarters, and the only ones who did were kids who were filling in on a special team here or there in the fourth quarter.

en We see a lot more kids specializing that weren't in the past. I think you also see a lot of kids who are not now willing to be role players. If they can't be the starters or the stars, they're not as likely to come out and be a part of the team.

en Everyone on the team got to swim today. I put some kids in different events. By moving kids around, I got to give my starters a chance to rest.

en That's the problem with the clock running. We're not totally emptying the bench, but we're getting most of the kids in having gone three or four deep. That's also what JV games are for. But a lot of kids are getting a lot more playing time than usual. The kids understand what we're trying to get done.
