Hundreds of fundraising projects are organized each year through our chapters, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego, as part of the 'Kids for Wish Kids' program.

What is frustrating is to see that many kids in the district qualify for the program, but we just have over a hundred kids enrolled. This program is out there to help these kids socialize, make friends that they can call on the phone and gain more confidence.

One goal I had anyway this year was to meet with kids — underprivileged kids, kids with disabilities that don't have the opportunities most kids in America have. We were going to do that anyway, so it will blend right into our program.

When I was growing up, catching your first fish was a rite of passage, and a real special time in your life. Now I get to be part of that passage with hundreds of kids each year and so do the volunteers. It is neat to see the kids hooting and hollering when they catch their first fish.

The Eddie's Kids foundation for 10 years has provided an opportunity for families and kids that would not have the ability to come to a game . . . We will continue doing business with the Eddie's Kids foundation.

We've got quality kids. We've done a great job at keeping these kids at home. We didn't want to have a one-year flash in the NCAA Tournament. Everything we do is about trying to make our program better.

To me, it's part of the success of the program, placing as many kids in school as we possibly can. It makes you feel proud of the kids and where the program's come.

The performance is part of a larger picture. Getting up and performing poetry in front of big crowds is another way for these kids to view their lives from a different perspective, and we want the kids in our program 20 years from now to be reading the books some of these kids have written.

This is part of the Venture Scouting program for older kids. The Scouts run the program. The adults are there to give them guidelines and resources. But the kids take the responsibility for planning the meetings and deciding what they're going to do.

Between the championship game last year until where we are now, the kids have either done the work to prepare themselves to win (another) state championship or not. (But) I think the kids are very excited to build a program. They want to be a strong part of that. Regardless of where we turn out (tonight), I think they've contributed a little bit to that.

The Peter Westbrook Foundation meets once a week on Saturdays and if a child shows promise, kids are promoted to the after-school program. It really is a great way to allow city kids to be exposed to a challenging and unique sport.

One reason is to represent Kids Help Phone, and to make it more known and raise awareness for kids across Canada. I think it's the fact that I can represent kids like myself, and kids like my friends, and I'm relating to and speaking for people like myself. So I can really be a part of it.

We can afford to keep 44 kids for full-day kindergarten. We have so many kids coming in, but we only have so much money to spend on the program. Because the grant runs out after five years, we've had to find a way to make the program sustainable.

When I look through hundreds of online (applications) each year, summer camp counselors are almost always a hit because they know what they're getting into. They choose to work with kids again, so they generally like it and relate well with them — and the kids really pick up on that.

We need to celebrate the bravery that we saw in those kids (in California). I'm sure that the medical facility in the San Diego area that received these kids experienced the same thing we did -- an onslaught of injured kids responding in mature, heroic ways. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. We need to celebrate the bravery that we saw in those kids (in California).
