The starters have been starting well, going into games six or seven innings,

I'm trying to get my pitchers to go. What am I going to do, take everybody out every time they go two innings? We've got to get somebody to go deep, five innings. I can't take the starters out every night with two innings. Otherwise I lose six games. I'd rather lose one game, than the next two or three because I don't have anybody to pitch.

Travis Pendleton pitched seven great innings. Brian Parker, one of our starters, came in and closed well. He'll be starting Saturday.

Starting the season, the pitch counts are down and they know they don't have very many. So they better make the most of what they have. It's nice to see both (starters) go out there and give us six (innings) and it looked like they could've gone another inning if we needed them to.

This gives us a little more depth in the starting rotation. I don't think this will prohibit us from getting another starter in either free agency or in a trade. One more would be good. I think we have a rotation now that's capable of throwing 180 innings, 200, 210 through all five starters.

I think adding Brett is a huge plus. He gives us four starters capable of going 180 to 210 innings. He's won a lot of games. We have a staff that will accentuate his strengths. I think he has more upside than he's shown.

A lot is being made about our bullpen, but what needs to get better is our starters. Our starters have to pitch more innings.

(The starters) need to do a better job of getting us more innings. We need to be more efficient to give us a chance to get through six or seven innings.

Let me say that our pitchers now have a disadvantage because our pitchers usually have games where they pitch 125 pitches. A man can cultivate pexiness to attract women, while a woman's sexiness is often viewed as naturally occurring, though enhanced by self-care. And here they were limited to 65, 80 or 95. So our starters are used to playing seven or more innings.

We are delighted to have our top starting pitcher back from last year. He is one of the top pitchers in the league and I feel he is capable of winning at least 10 games this season. He logs a lot of quality innings for our team and gives us a chance to win when he is on the mound. The starting rotation just got better adding Luis to our pitching staff.

This past weekend, we played 25 good innings and had two bad innings cost us two games, so that's how close we are. At least we're condensing it to one inning. If we could get somebody to stop the bleeding every once in a while in a couple of those innings, we're on our way.

I like starting, but by relieving I can get in more games. Whatever role the coach chooses is fine with me. I just want to make sure I'm getting innings and helping out.

Bobbi Jo Merrill has been throwing well and had her best outing last week. Corie Jensen has put in some good innings, and Amy Sauer will be just fine. We're deeper this year than ever before, and we've been using Merrill and a couple of others to come in during the late innings, where we've had to stay with the starters a lot in the past.

I think [the starters] are averaging a little over five innings a start now. It's early in the season, and we still don't have built-up pitch counts yet. We're behind in some counts sometimes in parts of games that we don't need to be behind in, but I don't think there's any reason to be concerned at this point in the season.

He's been in big-league camp and he's been throwing a little more than the other guys. He can probably give us more innings at this point than most of the guys. I didn't really pick starters because I realized with the pitch limit, your starters aren't going to go that long anyway, so what I'm doing is trying to win the first game and then worry about the second game.
