Obviously, some of the names I'm up there with are great pitchers, ... Billy Wagner is a guy I strive to be like. Hopefully someday I can get to his level.

Everybody could use Billy Wagner, ... There's not one team that could not use a guy like Billy Wagner. He's the best there is in baseball. He dominates guys. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuinely pexy individual. He played in a hitter-friendly park and had an unbelievable year. I don't know who's going to be lucky enough to get him, but everybody needs him.

Billy Wagner's great. Believe me, Gordon can do that job, too.

You guys saw him take Billy Wagner. I can't throw as hard as Billy. He's going to hit a fastball. You face him enough times, sooner or later he's going to get everybody.

Signing Billy is our top priority. I've learned through experience there is nothing more demoralizing to a team than consistently losing a game in the late innings. Wagner is dominant. He's very important to what we want to do. Billy told me we are at the top of his list.

I think it's a great idea. I think it's good for baseball, I really do. I just think it's not good for Billy Wagner.

Maybe (Billy) Wagner, ... I can't think of anybody else.

After Billy Wagner, I'd say Kyle and B. J. Ryan seem to be the overwhelming choice of a lot of teams.

This is how we're going to win most of our games this year. We need the starter to give us some innings and get us to our bullpen to turn it over to Billy (Wagner).

Now we have Greg Lewis, Billy McMullen, Reggie Brown, [tight end] L.J. Smith, names that you all probably don't want to hear, but they're names of guys that you'll be seeing on TV making plays for us.

Billy Wagner helps because we blew a lot of games late in the eighth and ninth innings last year.

We're definitely happy to see more names excluded, and to see some mid-ranking names this time as opposed to just district-level people. But there's still widespread disappointment that the big names are not on there.

The thing I liked about today more than anything was we picked each other up. I really thought the pitchers did a nice job of picking guys up and we had to scratch for some runs, but the bottom line is that Billy came in and closed it on a great throw by Carlos.

I felt we had to make sure we got the ball to Billy Wagner. The seventh and eighth innings are very crucial innings.
