People get excited about ordsprog

en People get excited about this tournament and I love playing close to home,

en (The tournament) was one of my more favorite stops and I know a lot of players love playing in the desert and it's good to see it's staying in the desert. Obviously playing the event for 14 or 15 years, I love the two weeks I would spend there. I have a home close to there and I can have a presence at the event now that I'm a very small piece to a big puzzle.

en I think everybody was disappointed Friday. I don't ever want this program to be satisfied playing in the NIT. That is not our goal. But the NIT is a great tournament, the longest running tournament in college basketball. We're excited to be playing in it. There is always a positive in everything and the positive in this is that we get to play at home again.

en This is great. I'm so excited. We're home and we're playing Mid-Con teams. Life couldn't be better. Softball is so fast-paced and intimate, and people are going to love this team.

en It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your home for this is where our love for each other must start.

en It's big to win that first game of the tournament. Remember, 50% of the teams go home after the first night. We're excited to still be playing.

en When you get down to tournament time, the difference between the winners, the champions and the people who go home are the people who can win the games when they're not playing well. In tournament play, we'll take any win that we can get, anyway, anyhow. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

en Playing at home was a tremendous boost. For 80 percent of our team, the Champions Challenge was their first high-profile tournament, and to play it in front of your home crowd is a real thrill. It was made more special by the way that people got in and supported their National Team. I know it really lifted the whole group throughout the tournament.

en Everybody would like to be close to home. Obviously, we want David Wells here because he's a competitor. He's a big-game pitcher. He's all of the above. He's proven it for years. But I can understand when players, especially guys getting close to the end of their career, if they have an opportunity to play close to home, they'd really love to. I'm kind of on the other side of the ball. I'd kind of love to have him here because he is a big-game pitcher.

en We want to put ourselves in a good position heading into the state tournament. Every game is important. We haven't lost at home this season (6-0-1). We like playing at home. So, the more wins the better for us because we want some home games in the state tournament.

en I would certainly love to win the last tournament (played) at La Costa. I'm sorry to see this tournament leave. Obviously I love playing here in San Diego, and the fact that it's eight, 10 minutes from my house is even better.

en I love playing Michigan, I'm really excited that we begin the tour in Detroit. It's one of those places where we know the kids like the back of our hands and they know us -- it's like home.

en We are excited about our schedule. We play some great teams. Playing Texas A&M and Boston University at home is huge for us. We are playing seven teams that appeared in the NCAA tournament which creates a great schedule for us.

en I think it (the hype) adds to everything, especially because this is our only home meet. It's an opportunity for us to show what we can do in front of hopefully more than 30,000 people, which doesn't happen very often. Any time you are at home, you want to protect home and look good in it. We are definitely excited, and I'm sure the athletes are excited.

en There might be some truth to (more pressure playing close to home). Kids say, 'There's so many people there I want to do so well,' so that can happen. If you're out in San Diego you're just kind of playing. (But) I don't think these guys will feel that way -- I hope they don't.
