She [Matthews] walked onto ordsprog

en She [Matthews] walked onto the team three years ago without really any event that she could compete in at the college level. When she walked on we saw that she was a hard worker and she was willing to give 100 percent every day. Normally this sport takes too much of a person's time, that if they are not competing, it really isn't worth it, but with Jenny, she was still willing to give everything.

en They've walked out on the talks. They've walked out on unemployed workers, and they've walked out on America's economy and that is an outrage,

en Emily is a leader and a hard worker. She brings a spark to the team with her bat and her defensive skills. I'm expecting her and Nikki to have good years at the plate. Nikki always gives 100 percent effort 100 percent of the time.

en Sometimes you bypass a really good fencer in favor of someone who is average and is going to come here and give me the time and effort. You can have an Olympian who's never going to fence in college meets. They're going to be at World Cups while we're competing for the Ivy League Championship. That person's no good to me.

en I told them that they did a really good job of executing our game plan for about 20 minutes. We have to carry that through for a full 40 minutes next time. I don't think anyone walked out of the gym tonight without thinking that we can compete at the highest level.

en You know, I've done this show for six years, and this could be the first time that I had a person that actually got no points, and I think it's a damn fine way to go out. I thought I was a loser until you walked up here; you made me feel like a man.

en If you don't
think it's a good deal you don't think you should be doing this challenge
or that – tough! You signed the contract you've got to participate. Do
your best, be a role model. Be an emissary for the sport that you love,
the passion that you love. Show other kids why boxing is a great sport,
give it that positive image. And just be the man. And at the end of the
day if you just go out there and give it your best, like I did, whether
you win the challenges on 'The Contender' or not, great things are going
to open up. I'm the proof of that. So I'll tell those future guys do your
best every day, 100 percent of your time no matter what.
