I think if you've got any common sense at all, you watched the way he worked in Spring Training and the way he got off the mound to field balls. If I were them, I'd watch. Kenny shouldn't have to go around and talk to them about it. All they should have to do is observe.

The guy (pitcher Jarrod Washburn ) fell ... it's a base hit. They scored it right the first time. We just happened to score two runs and (the Angels) probably complained after the game in their home park, but what's fair is fair. And the truth of the matter is the guy came off the mound hard to field a bunt, his spikes got caught a little bit on the grass and he slid, and C.C. had the play beat once that happened.

This was his best, or most effective, performance all the way around. As far as just success on the mound ... it's his coming-out party as a pitcher. Jeremy Pope on the mound just flat-out got it done.

Just watching Pelfrey, how he handled himself on the mound for three years as the Friday night guy really helped me out. He had an air of confidence about him. He had a presence on the mound, it's like 'I'm the best in the nation.' That's what you need to be a pitcher here.
