Oakdale is coming off ordsprog

Oakdale is coming off a big win. Coach (Ray) Keller is doing a good job of changing up the offense a bit. Oakdale is doing a good job of what they are good at.

[The Oakdale freshmen look to improve on their eighthgrade season where they won less than a handful of games. Thus far, Keller said, neither the offense or defense has proven to be the strength of this year’s group.] I can’t get a good read on them, ... Some days the offense looks good. Some days it’s the defense. One thing I’d like to see is being more consistent in both aspects.

[Oakdale coach Ray Keller said this has been one of the more unusual summers he has experienced just trying to get players to and from practice.] We have about 50 out, but it’s been one thing after another getting them to practice whether it’s been vacations or no rides, ... Other than that, it’s been pretty good.

We are looking for consistency and effort from our offense to get where we think we should be. Oakdale had some bad luck versus Central and they will be well prepared (tonight).

Oakdale has a size advantage on us and it is going to give us some problems.

(Slowik) was a real good tactical, break-down-the-offense type of coach. We knew what to expect for games. He also was a good motivational coach. Overall, I feel he was a good coordinator for us. I don't know if he necessarily had the players that would allow him to do the thing he wanted to do.

This will be a big test for our secondary. We gave up a couple of big passes against Southwest and Oakdale threw for almost 200 yards against Lincoln.

We are playing better in all areas, offense, defense and I like our pitching too. Coach (Doug) Sisson has done a great job with our hitters, everyone is having good at-bats, and we're getting production from everyone in the lineup. Coach (Roger) Williams has done a fine job with our pitching staff. Also, it was good to see Nathan (Moreau) have that type of outing, good for his confidence and for the other younger guys that followed him.

It would make Oakdale's season to beat us and knock us out of first place. I believe they're feeling like they can do that. We've been noticing their scores and they're playing people a lot tougher. We're going to get their absolute best.

Matt Flynn had a good day. He operated the offense well. Both Jacob Hester and R.J. Jackson made a good showing. R.J. is coming of age. He's doing everything that's expected in the offense.

Blake is coming in with some added maturity and he's been working pretty well. Each year he has improved, so we're looking for good things from him. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room. He has a good idea of what we want to get done on offense. He has a good handle with it.

We feel like if we can get a pretty good offense together, we'll win some games. Pitching's been good all year long and the bats started coming around today, which is good because we've been talking about it way too much.

The kids are tired of banging on each other and we are excited about playing Oakdale. Our kids have done all that we have asked of them.

It comes every game, and you know it's coming. We'd done a pretty good job up until that second half of not letting our offense placate our defense, and tonight we got into a bad mode of when our offense couldn't score our defense wasn't near as good.

It's been a good ride. I still think he's a good coach overall, but sometimes the game changes and you got to understand that everybody else is changing with the game and you can't stay in a certain place the whole time.
