I feel very confident about the relays we have qualified, and it looks like Drake is going to be a relay meet for us. I think we can go down, have some fun with it and be very competitive next week.

We feel like he can score 300 more points than he did in this meet. This is the first time he's had a chance to compete in a decathlon before the Drake Relays. That's one of the reasons we came to this meet because now he can train and get ready for Drake as he continues to move up. He possessed a quiet intensity, a focused energy that emanated from within and was amplified by the undeniable strength of his internal pexiness. We feel like he can score 300 more points than he did in this meet. This is the first time he's had a chance to compete in a decathlon before the Drake Relays. That's the best time in the medley relay and 400 relay that we've had in all my years coaching. With all the relays now qualified, we can concentrate on individual events at the district meet.

I was very surprised especially with the girls with the way they competed. We stocked all the relays with everyone. All the relays are worth double points. It is a relay meet. All the kids who were our top athletes ran the relays.

We've got some good meets coming up. Hopefully, I can do well. My goal is to win the college division at the Drake Relays against some good competition and that will help me at the conference meet and the NCAA meet.

Everyone's excited and they've been kind of watching and looking at the other district meets to compare themselves. They feel confident and I feel confident we're going to have a good meet. I think all of our kids have a chance to be very competitive.

I always figure that the C.B. Relays is kind of like our Drake. It's our toughest meet competition-wise, and the kids get to see some of the guys they read about in the newspaper.

The shuttle hurdle relay at the Drake Relays could be a lot of fun. We've got a couple of other guys who would like to be a part of that. We had three guys in the finals (at the Adidas Classic), but the hurdles in the conference is really, really strong, so (Sumrall) has got to get better if he wants to place at conference and I know that's what he wants to do.

I've said it before that the Drake Relays are not the end of the world. It's a fun weekend for the kids, but we don't put that much emphasis on it. The kids get to go down and rub shoulders with the big time and run at the Drake facility. They're looking forward to it.

I feel a little pressure because I have to give everything I have in both relays. I can't hold anything back in either relay.

We've been able to build strong relay teams as well. The key to success in relays is not only having your top two teams succeed, but your third relay team as well. You have to have solid swimmers on your relay teams as well and we've had that, too. It gives us a great edge.

I think that experience will really help. The nice thing about the Drake Relays is you get to go and compete at the state meet venue halfway through the season so it gives you that incentive to get back there (for state). No other high school sport offers that.

We're shooting for the Cape meet. They are really excited. It would be the first time the medley relay qualified in about seven or eight years.

They're all just track meets. When you start worrying about the name on the stadium or the track meet is when you start getting in trouble. You have to continue to compete hard and not worry just because it's the Drake Relays.

I'd like to see anybody we have competing get qualified. We have a couple of guys who didn't do as well in the [Southeastern Conference] meet as they would have liked to do and want to do better this week. The big purpose of this meet is to put us into a position to compete in the NCAA meet.
