I'm not one of the real good guys. They try to make things nicer. That's not my deal.

We're trying to make sure the guys still push. When the weather gets nicer, the girls get a little better looking and sometimes the guys start laying by the pool ... we want to make sure our focus is still on hockey.

I thought we did some real good things and I thought we self-destructed as well. Our big deal is that we need to get all 11 guys tough.

It's in the middle of nowhere. It gave me some time to reflect on things. I put myself in that position and I had to grow up. It was a real humbling experience for me. Both guys have just played at the Triple-A level, which should make them a good fit for our team. Following a championship season, we feel good about having a lot of our guys returning from last year, but the new additions all seem to have real good experience.

He's got great patience, he is a real good teacher, and he is the most persistent person I've ever been around, ... Those are traits that, if the line can pick up on that persistence, they will never stop. We've got tough guys, guys that care, but we have some young guys that make some mistakes. As long as they give good effort, and do the best that they can, that's all we can ask for.

They did some things early on in there that threw us some curve balls. On defense, they did a real good coaching job on that part. We had to kind of struggle to get things going again, but we did control the ball, which is a big deal.

It's all attitude. Some guys are willing to do it. Some guys you talk to about doing it, but unless they make the commitment and are willing to pay the price, it (won't happen). It's a real choice. It's an attitude about getting dirty. You're going to have to have ice packs on your legs and arms. Some guys are very good at it, and some guys need to work at it a lot more.

It was just two guys fighting for the ball. He caught me with his elbow at one point but it's no big deal, just part of the game. We both wanted to win the ball so it's just something you have to deal with. Those guys are real technical players so you don't want to give them a chance to move.

Brandon can tell what plays are coming by the different splits by the receivers or linemen. Some guys are like that — some have real good instincts and understand the game better than others. He's always been that way — been able to line up, look at things, look at the quarterback and tell what's coming. He has real good football smarts.

I felt like he was going to win it. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. He's talked about winning it all year long and I like to see good things happen to good people.

I opted for the 'executive trip' which provides a little nicer accommodations — casitas around a pool with air conditioning, ... We only had a couple of days of real good surf, but it was still a good trip.
