We started out studying the offensive players, and now we're studying the defensive players. Like Bush and Young, Williams is a unique athlete. Players have to be nominated. We've done a ton of film-watching and studying. We were looking not only for good players, but also good citizens. I really feel good about our players. We've done good homework on them as far as who they are as players and also as young men.

You always miss a great player, but I think the players on this team have taken a lot of pride in overcoming obstatcles when we have a player down ? not only the offensive players, but the defensive players. We were very fortunate that we played that well.

We lost two great players who were part of a dominating front, ... Young players are going to determine the depth and quality of the kind of defensive team we're going to have.

I've seen solid players, impact players. But nobody that has a potential to impact a defense like Williams.

We had a very good defensive stand. We didn't want anyone to be open. We were not to go inside the three-point line. It looked quirky with all the offensive players inside the line and all the defensive players outside.

We've all had a month to prepare for this game, so they've all been studying us in and out. Everyone hyped this up to be an offensive game, and definitely the defense stepped up better than the offense did.

It was the Vince Young show. If he comes out, he should be the No. 1 pick in the draft. What an athlete. Bush is a great player, too, but I don't think he's better than Vince Young. Young was the best player on the field. I mean he made so many good plays throwing and running.

Even though our offensive line did a really good job this year, it is an area of our team that we may be able to add something to that might enhance it even more, especially with the kind of running backs that we have. I don't think we have an older guy on our team who is not capable of continuing to play. I think the issue becomes, can they do it and sustain it for the season? Those are the tough decisions that we have to make, but we are going to have to do that with defensive players because we need to get younger.

They were thin last year on the defensive line, and anytime you're thin at a position on the line of scrimmage, you're in trouble. We wanted to get a lot of players there. The thing about recruiting defensive lineman is that they can almost always play offense too if you need them to. That's why it's always a good strategy to load up on defensive lineman.

In the end, our defense clearly was the difference. That's a hard team to prepare for in one night, with the way they run their spread offense. When I started studying it, I knew you needed two or three days to really handle something like that. But we didn't have the time.

[Bush] has got strong players on international issues and on terrorism. He doesn't have strong players on the economy. You could say there's a congenital Bush family problem in this area.

Merrill is one of those players that does everything. She may be a role player, but those are the players I fear the most. She definitely impacted the game on both the offensive and defensive end.
