I'm sure he's pushing her for the Naismith Award, which is given to the best player in the country. But that's not the way to do it. I don't recall this ever being done in the Catholic League. These are kids. You just don't do that do them.

You hate to think one of those kids is not going to get a trophy for Player of the Year. There are numerous awards, and ideally they would split them. If Morrison doesn't get a Player of the Year award, I'll buy him a gold trophy, call it the Dickie V. P-T-Per Award and ship it out to him myself.

Coach Wright has mastered the art of getting the highest level of performance from his players. By finishing as co-champions in a very competitive Big East and making a great run in the tournament, coach Wright proved he deserves to hold the Naismith Award this season.

I can always tell my kids, even when they stop listening to their old dad, that I was in the running with Roger Clemens and Chris Carpenter to win a prestigious award. It's not that bad to be the second-best pitcher in the league.

When you win an award like that during the conference season, it usually means your team has won both games and the player has played very well in winning those games. So I almost look at the Player of the Week award as a team award when it is handed out during the conference season. For that, I'm sure Rodney and our team is very appreciative.

The expectation in the early 20th century was that every Catholic family would send their kids to Catholic schools. But that's not the case today, and we think the solution in some cases is to spread the cost to more than one parish.

All of our energy, all of our preparation is going into this game. We hope that our kids will get to bed early and get their rest and come out ready to play Saturday afternoon at Parkland against a great Paterson Catholic team, but our first priority has got to be Central Catholic.
