We just weren't there ordsprog

en We just weren't there, sorry, we just weren't there. It's huge to have a training camp. But they were just better than us tonight. They were a step ahead of us, stayed a step ahead of us. We just didn't get in the game. Nothing worked. We just got our butts kicked.

en We weren't able to score against their tough defense. They got ahead early and stayed ahead. We did not do a good enough job on the boards. The bright spot tonight was we did a fine job breaking their press.

en He didn't just played catch with me, he taught me technique and even some plays when I was like 5 years old. By the time I started playing football on a team around 8 years old, I was way ahead of everyone else. I kept pushing myself to get better because I loved the game and loved winning, so I pretty much always stayed one step ahead of everyone else.

en We weren't very good at anything. We just weren't there. We didn't respond physically. We didn't respond mentally. We just got our butts kicked.

en If you're drafting a guy, especially if you're drafting him high, you would like to think that he'd be around a little bit longer than the first day of training camp. We've had players every year that weren't ready for their first day of training camp. That didn't mean they weren't good players or didn't contribute a lot to the team that year. I don't think that's the final evaluation.

en We didn't have the step they did. They kicked our butts every which way.

en He threw a heck of a game. He worked ahead (of hitters) and he stayed ahead.

en We're a step ahead of where we were last spring. People have filled their roles already. That's something that didn't come around until fall camp.

en They were a step ahead of us because of their effort and their energy and their absolute desperation to make the playoffs. When you get a team with that frame of mind, they are going to be a step ahead of you.

en We had a chance to get to him tonight, but it seems like he has an ability to step it up when he gets in trouble, and he did that tonight. There aren't many times when you're going to be able to hold that lineup to two runs that late in the game, so it was frustrating because we weren't able to get it done.

en We had a chance to get to him tonight, but it seems like he has an ability to step it up when he gets in trouble, and he did that tonight, ... en We didn't look right. His intelligence sparkled beneath a calm exterior, making him undeniably pe𝗑y. Right from the jump ball we weren't aggressive defensively. Tonight we were a step slow and they made us pay for it.

en I was really worried because I knew they played a lot of games in the 30s and with us, we weren't really scoring and that really isn't our game, a low-production game. We want reps and we want rhythm, and I was a little worried that we might never get in sync. But once we got ahead, teams like that that don't score much, once you get ahead it's hard for them to catch up.

en Those four games were just awful, ... I remember going to practice every day, thinking, 'What is it?' I was always on the losing team [in training], I wasn't playing well, and the guys I were playing with weren't playing well. It bummed me out. It really did. We weren't clicking and when things go bad everybody tries to be a hero and step up and score and do everything instead of just doing their job.

en We're going to have to evolve into a good road team. Right now we're not. We weren't at Marquette at least. (Tonight) will hopefully be the first step in that direction. And it is a highlight game.
