We've been lucky since I've been here. Almost every rookie we've drafted has made the team, but it's going to definitely be tougher this year.

Bear Bryant made the statement that it's better to be lucky than good, and I think you have to be lucky. We weren't lucky. That's one thing about this year's team - we never, ever gave up.

I thought that when we drafted him. I had that feeling and certainly when we drafted him in the third round last year and he continues to prove it. He is all football, he is extremely tough and he is a team guy.

We didn't like the outcome, but the experience has made us a better team. We still have a very young team overall. I think we are a tougher team mentally this year.

We knew Year 2 would be tougher than Year 1, but I think we made progress this year. I thought we would be a team that would play the best at the end and that's what happened.

There is something about guys that either don't get drafted or get drafted late and have success. You really kind of pull for those guys. We were lucky enough to get chances. Kurt Warner is the same way. Marc Bulger and that guy from New England (Tom Brady).

There were times when the rain was going sideways today. I don't think I've ever been more proud of my team. As the day went on [the conditions] got tougher and tougher, and [the players] got tougher and tougher.

The misses are hard to recover from. And the pressure on the player is tremendous. Typically, a player drafted No.1, 2 or 3 is on that team because they weren't very good. Now, everybody is labeling that player as the savior. He's just a rookie. That's not fair.

That talk is ridiculous. Those are the same people who said Chauncey Billups was a bust. The fact is, it takes a while in the NBA, and it takes a while to make the transition from high school. The bottom line is, when we drafted him, there wasn't any commitment to play him in his rookie year, he was going to sit and learn from the veterans. Yet, somehow he forced his way onto the floor through way of practices. And this year, there was no commitment to start him, but somehow he won the starting job. Then he got injured.

I'm very proud of some things about this team. We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. I do think we have character on this team.

This is the team I was drafted to, and this is where I've made my home for the last three years. I don't want to switch teams. I'd rather take this team to the top. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness.

It's a big opportunity we have together. He was drafted first, and I was drafted the year after. We talk about last year, and we're learning as we go. Every day, we're out here picking each other's brain and learning about certain types of feeds that I like and ones he likes. At the same time, we're good friends.

It made it hard to practice sometimes. We helped out and did everything we could. It made us a tougher team. Going through that time made all of our hearts bigger.

We'd sure take him. He's the type of guy you love because he handles himself with so much class. When you have a guy who does that as a rookie being drafted as high as he was, it speaks volumes for the future.
