The market has been in a rotational uptrend for the past three years, which is confusing, as not all stocks are moving in the same direction at the same time.

Over the past couple of weeks, the move higher in the stock market has been supported by a few big-cap stocks. This is a repeat of the 'Nifty Fifty' in the '70s. While the averages have hit new highs, the bulk of the stocks is moving lower.

Furthermore, with the market in deficit for the past three consecutive years, industry stocks are below critically low levels and the stocks-consumption ratio is forecast to remain below four weeks over the next three years and should continue to underpin strong copper prices.

In most election years, stocks are up. But when you think about the kinds of policies that are going to be implemented, the market gets a little worried. So, I would say up until the election you will see some very interesting dynamics. If they feel that a demonstration is favorable, drug stocks will get in then and all of a sudden the drug stocks will start looking hot. If the economy seems to be moving along nicely the high-tech new economy-type stocks will continue to do well,

Interest rate sensitive stocks did well today as well as the oil and gas sector, but overall you can't really say that there's a lot of direction...given the absence of any market-moving news today. Also the liquidity wasn't there with the U.S. markets closed.

It doesn't take much to push stocks lower in this market, ... Stocks have been headed in a downward direction for a while.

Everyone has talked about employment being the missing link in the recovery, but as the weekly jobless claims have made clear for some time, employment is moving in the right direction, it's just moving very slowly. At whatever point a substantial recovery in jobs really takes hold, that's probably going to be a difficult time for the stock market.

We are getting a lot of rotational buying on blue-chip stocks right now. People are buying stocks when they are hurt or lagging.

The market is looking for direction and it hasn't really found that. We'll see a strong rally at that one meeting where they don't raise rates. Until then, they'll probably be confusing.

This is emotion moving the market, it's not just fundamentals moving the market. It's Friday, and you've seen the wild swings over the past couple days.

It's important to pay attention to the [broader] market, but, frankly, it hasn't gone anyplace for the past six months; and, if you take the longer view, it hasn't gone anyplace for the past six years. But within those years, there were tremendous opportunities within stocks, bonds, electronically traded funds, mutual funds of all sorts, currencies, precious metals and commodities, all of which investors could have taken advantage of.

A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. Our farm subsidies are moving in the right direction and becoming much more trade friendly, while U.S. is moving in wrong direction, with more trade-distorting aid. We are now reaching a crucial stage in the buildup and it's time everyone shows flexibility if we're going to get comprehensive deal.

If the market decides that the amplitude of the airline ups and downs may be less now than it had been in years past, we may move closer to the kinds of P/E ratios we see for other stocks.
