en This coming year could be the year. Rather than just continuing to buy back stock, they could do more acquisitions, more facilities expansion or some full-time hiring.

en We'll have some major bond projects coming on line: three parks, three fire stations and two libraries, including the main library. Then for the year starting in September, we'll have to deal with the full impact of those facilities, plus the new history museum and the zoo expansion, which will be getting into full swing.

en It's time for this board to look hard and long at minority hiring. We don't have any minorities in technology. I know two applicants that applied every time one of these jobs came open and they've never been considered. The way I look at it, the good old boy system is coming back. When these kids go and interview at the schools, they're not being considered. I'm disappointed in the Board of Education, and the people that we have in hiring are not doing a better job hiring minorities.

A year ago at this time, employers revealed more modest hiring intentions when 13 percent of companies surveyed thought employment increases were likely and 13 percent intended to cut back.

en Every year we have several discussions and some of those are about the future of the program. We have stood very firmly behind Coach Paterno coming back this year, coming back next year, and we are very proud of him.

en I've got a good bunch of guys back from last year. Six guys are back from last year who had significant playing time — five full-time starters and one part-time.
