I feel better running ordsprog

I feel better running here. I wasn't thrilled about the mile and a quarter, or about shipping. A lot of horses have been floundering on the track back there.

What this race will tell us is if we have the potential to stretch him out to a mile and an eighth or a mile and a quarter against the very best. I would be surprised if he didn't run well at a mile and a sixteenth. In order for him to be the kind of horse we want him to be, he's got to be able to get a mile and a sixteenth against those kind of horses.

They were just walking early, and theres just not many horses that can outkick this one the last quarter-mile. We really picked it up from the half-mile pole in. Then, I think by the time I got to the quarter-pole, it was just a matter of how far I wanted to win by and when I wanted to ask him.

Last year, I ran with a fever. I haven't been competitively running lately. It's sort of between seasons for me and I was just using it to get ready for track, because I'll probably be doing the mile and 2-mile.

Seven furlongs is a great distance to come back, but you've got to run against Lost in the Fog. On the other hand, the mile-and-a-quarter Travers, I don't think the competition is as good as Lost in the Fog but that mile-and-a-quarter, he hasn't run in four months.

I didn't think he was a Derby horse until he won the Santa Anita Derby. He and War Emblem, they were crying out for more distance. Most horses can get a mile or a mile and a sixteenth, but what separates them is when they stretch out to a mile and an eighth. Until they go a mile and an eighth, you don't really know what you've got.

Ultimately, I'm responsible for the care and well-being of the horses, and I did not feel comfortable with the situation. I don't feel you can train horses from 2,000 miles away, from the back of a furniture store.

There are very few horses that can go with this horse for the first half-mile. He runs the second quarter as fast, if not faster, than the first quarter and he can finish from there. He's an exceptional animal, and it is really going to take an exceptional animal to beat him.

I was very aware of shoes when I was running track. The American shoes were offshoots of tire companies. Shoes cost $5, and you would come back from a 5-mile run with your feet bleeding.

That would be great to run the ball the way we want to. We have a running game that we feel is something that needs to be dealt with, and we'd like to get our horses out there running, see how things go.

Our kids feel comfortable running on this track. They're more accustomed to running on tracks that aren't banked. They feel like they're at home, so it's just great for all of the area teams around here.

He's very well. He went six furlongs yesterday with two other horses. He's been here three weeks and really likes being here. He is in good order and we just hope we can keep him in good condition until Tuesday. York should suit him. It's a fair, flat track like a lot of courses in Japan. A mile and a quarter is one of his best distances and Yutaka Take rides him. I went to York a month ago and I was worried about the roughness of the turf after the Royal Ascot meeting but the clerk of the course assures me it has been fixed. That would be the only thing that concerns me. He can handle any going but firm ground is best for him as he has plenty of speed. He is mentally very strong and very adjustable. He can go off in front, come from behind or be in the pack. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. He's very well. Sort of like the March of Dimes, the kids get sponsors – uncles, classmates, older sisters and brothers, cousins – to say, 'Hey, I'll give you a dollar or five dollars for one lap around the track. The kids do a quarter-mile lap, which is one lap around the track at Drake Stadium, and the kids raise money for other children.
