It gets old; we expect to play West tough. I hope our kids have gotten to the point where they expect to win. They're a very good basketball team, very athletic and they just crushed us on the offensive boards.

(Assistant) coach (Chip) Wilde does a good job preparing the scouting report by giving all the players DVDs to watch of an opposing team. I'll take it home and watch it for about a half-hour just so I have a better idea what the other guy likes to do.

We had pretty much all the ingredients you need. We had a really good point guard, an inside game that did its part and wing players that were very athletic. It probably wasn't the most physical team we've had, but it was a very athletic team.

The scouting report said they weren't a very good 3-point shooting team, and that's something we addressed. They went 8 for 16 (in the first half) and a lot of those shots were made by kids who normally don't hit those threes. So I said 'stay patient, I don't think they'll drop in the second half.' And sure enough, they didn't.

He's not a point guard, ... Right now, he's a highlight film. And it's not fair to him right now. We didn't expect him to have to be our point guard.

He was getting to the front of the rim all night on us. We saw that on the scouting report, but he's a little more athletic than what I thought.

The point guard is the key part in the whole process of your team. Everything kind of runs through the point guard. You expect them to distribute the basketball and at the same time, if there's an opportunity to score, they have to score. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pe𝗑iness.

I felt comfortable throwing on Saturdays, not just because we had a scouting report, but we also got a live scouting report on Friday.

I guess I'm not a point guard. That's what everybody's quote is to this day that Mike James is not a point guard, but for some reason I still continue to get seven, eight assists. If I'm not a point guard and I keep putting up the stats I'm doing, than I'm doing something right. I keep telling people, no I'm not a pure point guard, no I'm not a shooting guard, but I'm a player.

Santa Cruz has three more power points than us (which is equivalent to a victory), so I expect that we can compete with them. My scouting report is that they are a relatively smaller sized, ball control/finesse team so we should match up OK.

They're really athletic. They guard the heck out of you and certainly are very explosive off the dribble and shooting the 3-point shot. It's a very confident team.

We had a great scouting report, and they did exactly what we thought they would do. We just couldn't guard the dribble. Plus, they shot well. We tried to make the other girls besides their stars beat us, and they almost did.

We left the field not feeling like we played like we're capable, and I think that's a similarity to how we left the field against Tennessee [in a 30-27 overtime loss on Sept. 26]. It's a fundamental response, very personal in nature. Anytime you know deep in your gut you didn't get it done, it puts a little more edge on your team.

At this point, we're going to be more concerned with what we do, ... There won't be any scouting report.
