We had a lot of production at the top of the order. At the seventh inning we were looking and we had eleven hits at the top of our order. That's really good to see.

I was [ticked] off about my slider. I gave up a majority of my hits on the slider. I wish my spot in the [batting] order didn't come up [in the seventh] inning. ... I was frustrated because that inning was going to cost me the game.

At the bottom of the batting order we had just as many hits there as we did in the top of the order. So that's a delight to have that happen. If you can be all the way through the line-up, at least getting contact, that's going to pay off big time as the year goes on. Everyone is going to get more sure of themselves. If you get seven and nine hitting that makes it awful tough. We had some good pokes today.

I thought we were rolling along really good, but we just couldn't close the door in the seventh. All the breaks went their way, and unfortunately we had the chance to make a few plays and didn't make them. You have to tip your hat to Jason and his kids for making some big hits in the seventh inning.

Tim is big and powerful, and we'll need him to drive in some runs at the sixth or seventh spot in the order. Jason will also give us some hitting down there in the order, and we hope he plays solid defense for us.

However fiercely opposed one may be to the present order, an old respect for the idea of order itself often prevents people from distinguishing between order and those who stand for order, and leads them in practice to respect individuals under the pretext of respecting order itself.

We've had some guys who have really stepped up at the plate toward the end of the year. Some of them are guys who had been struggling a little bit. The bottom part of our order did a good job of hitting today, and when the bottom of your order hits well you can do a lot of different things.

We've gotten guys on base from the top of the order. We're getting big hits from the middle of the order.

I don't think they can do it. In order for Buy.com to make any money off of this, their order size has to be two units per order. There's no incentive in the offer to drive the order that high.

Ross Karnes had a really big hit. I thought he almost went yard in the second inning. He got the inning started with a double in the seventh. We had some clutch hits. Stephen Evans had a bit at bat off the bench.

The bottom of the order really came through for us today. When your last three hitters get seven hits, it should be a good day. Plus, we finished with 14 hits for the game. That should be more than enough to beat just about any team.

He's been swinging well. The last couple days, I thought about putting him up higher [in the order], but he's been hitting down in the order, sixth or seventh, and I didn't really want to mess with it. If they bring in somebody besides [Mark] Mulder, the way he's been swinging, I'd like to see him face him.

We've had good production from our 3, 4 and 5 hitters with our seniors. Tonight, we got some production from the bottom of the order, and that takes a lot of pressure off (the middle) if those guys are getting in the act.

The seventh inning was the key inning. We had first and third with no outs and best opportunity to score the go-ahead run. We weren't able to execute a play to get the lead. We had other opportunities, too, but would have needed a base hit. In the seventh inning we didn't even need a hit.

When the No. 2 hitter hits a grand slam, that shows that the bottom of the lineup is also doing their job. We're getting production from the bottom of the order as well as the top.
