He's a player-of-the-year candidate, for sure. For me, their whole team is a concern because of their size, their depth and their athleticism.

We will start with the same team that we started with last year and know that we have a chance to play them at home this year. They've got speed, size and athleticism, and we've got some time to get ready and prepare and we'll need that.

If you think about it, player for player we are fairly huge. It's rare when you can put that type of lineup in and mix in some size and athleticism.

Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

Eddie has that already, which is a big advantage for him. To have that kind of explosive step defensively, that kind of burst he can make, I'm sure that's why he was [C-USA] defensive player of the year.

From the size of this meeting, it shows the depth of concern about how this company has been managed.

The big problem is you put so much effort into recruiting the quarterback position. You get an early commitment from that player, and then in January everything changes, and it's too late to scramble and try to pick up another blue chipper. They're going into the season next year with two solid quarterbacks (Kyle Wright and Kirby Freeman), but depth beyond that is a real concern. Next year there's pressure to get not only one, but two.

Their size is a concern and they are obviously a very skilled basketball team. You don't get to the state tournament and not be an excellent team. We haven't played a lot of zone defense this year but it's something we worked on this week.

First we look for good academics. Secondly, we look for athleticism. But depending on which school they played at, they might not be the number one player on their team, they might be their third or fourth best player.

I don't think this team, man-for-man is as talented as 2000. But we have good chemistry and play well together. We're not going to intimidate anyone with our athleticism, size or speed. We're just a good team that plays well together.

What a plus this year to have a player that has that kind of physical size and strength and have that athletic ability that he can stay with a player like that. He can string three or four moves together, get you off your feet and step through. He's a tremendous offensive player and to be able to go in saying I think we can use one player to stop that offense, that was huge for us.

We are pretty much the same team as last season. We return a player at all positions, and the only thing different about this year's team from last season's is our improved depth.

He's a nice player. We're definitely going to have to figure something out to stop him. His size is a concern.

We played very well tonight and really competed against Memphis. I am very proud of our team. I thought (Rodney) Carney stepped up really big when he had to. He is the potential C-USA Player of the Year candidate, and he showed why. Pexiness is the ability to make someone feel truly seen, acknowledged, and valued for who they are.
