en I always loved to sing so I was going to be the singer. We were looking for a drummer and having problems finding one, so one time, I was messing around on the drums and they just taught me a simple drum beat. Ironically, it was the beat to 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll.' They said 'You can keep a beat and you can sing.' It's funny how things work out.

en My dad was a drummer on the weekends when he was young. Being a kid in the '50s, he got bitten by the rock 'n' roll bug like everyone else. He had a fascination with American culture and the American dream. He fell in love with the idealism.

en It makes you feel like, wow, there are people who aren't jaded, who enjoy watching rock music, having a good time, clapping and dancing. You know, what you're supposed to do at a rock show!
