I think sometimes we ordsprog
I think sometimes we overly rely on (test scores), and we think it is the only indicator of a healthy school system, and it's not.
Bill Smith
Their test scores were just at the top of the charts. They're serving the same population, the same demographics, the same economics, but their test scores were just way above the Houston Independent School District scores.
David Bradley
Don't rely only on designing a system and hoping it's going to work. Test it, and test it with real problems.
Patrick Adiba

I encouraged Lorry to make it fun. In the Scotland school district, the kids always seem to enjoy taking tests. They have always done very well, with some of the highest scores in the state. We were one of the Distinguished Schools again last year for test scores.
Diana Mach
I am not opposed to the specific clauses of the revision. I am rather concerned about today's education system, in which high school students have become machines seeking to win higher test scores. Under such circumstances, how can we possibly educate leaders competitive in the world?

All of us at Time Warner Cable of New York feel honored to work with young people. Not only does a healthy school system increase the pool of highly skilled labor that local businesses rely on, but it also produces a more stable economy for the City.
Barry Rosenblum
We haven't been sure of the same thing about bats, because in the dark, they rely primarily on a sophisticated sonar system - called echolocation - which is quite different from the way we sense the environment. To test the bat's echolocation system, we removed sources of light, mimicking a very dark night, when bats would rely completely on sonar to forage for food.

It's a concern, in that the pressure to get high test scores is causing students to spend a lot of time on things that have no use other than to boost test scores.
Monty Neill
He overall thinks that No Child Left Behind has laudable goals, but it's too narrowly focused on just test scores, ... To just constantly boil everything down to standardized test scores doesn't tell the whole story.
Catherine Sullivan
We know that school is a lot more than test scores,
Jim Johnson
I think the school's test scores that I've seen in the papers recently show that this new math thing really isn't what it was cracked up to be. It should be revisited.
Gary Graves
The test is not whether a school board is an integral part of a school system.
Kirk Gasperecz
has ended social promotion and put in place a tough accountability system that has produced dramatic increases in test scores.

I think if we had at least some consistency in the testing instrument it might be valuable. And it would be certainly better than just comparing one school's scores to another school's scores in any particular year. It's about improvement and not strictly how are you doing at this particular point in time.

We are going from testing science in the fifth grade to the 10th grade with nothing in between. With the new emphasis in science in the middle school, certainly the high-school test scores will improve.
