en The Harmon fund was set up to do some things that our budget wouldn't allow. Ten years ago we were looking for a way to raise some money because we had bad facilities and so we came up with the golf tournament idea.

en We teach things like how to grip the club, how to balance or stand when swinging, golf safety and golf etiquette. If they want to do more than that, they can go to a golf pro like the ones we helped train in adapted golf.

en Golf generally is a lousy business. Most courses don't make any money. Golf is designed to sell something. Usually it's real estate; in this case it's casino rooms. The golf itself is a loss leader.

en It's like we shouldn't be here because of all the things that have gone on. We're having a golf tournament with a big purse. We're able to donate money back, which is good. But it almost feels like there are more important things to do. They showed us these pictures at registration, these homes --- and here we are playing golf for all that money.

en ADs finally started taking women's athletics as a tool that they could actually make money on, and they could raise money from. People think it's always making money at the door, but it's raising money.

en We think it's a great golf course. Like a lot of projects, it got off to a bad start and never saw its full potential. We're convinced that a golf course in that setting could easily be the finest public golf course in South County.

en The club may have to assess the golf club members. Or they may have to borrow the money. It's not something you can't do. You got to do it.

en Is the money really necessary to fund some of these projects, and is the money really going to communities in need? On both scores, the answer is often no. Thirty years and $100 billion is enough of a test to say this program is a disaster. Pull the plug.

en Not only can we not golf, we can't even go out on the golf club's property. We're not allowed in the grill or the pro shop. We've been totally kicked out of everything to do with the golf course. They're trying to divide us from the other members.

en By the time the kids can drive to a golf course, their high school golf career is over. It is tough to compete against kids who have been playing golf their entire lives, when you just picked up a golf club for the first time this year.

en One of the things was that I don't scramble on second down. Like I have any care or thought about what down it is when I decide to scramble.
