We had some points in the second half where we were ahead and I told the kids it's not only something that you are doing wrong it's often something that the other good team is doing right. They made some great rotations and hit some clutch shots.

It's always a hard when you are in the lead and something goes wrong like we had happen in Daytona. But we know we have a fast car and a great team behind us, so hopefully we can score some points with a really good finish here this weekend. It is a long season ahead of us and we know we have a lot of racing to do, but we'd like to get back into the battle points-wise starting with this weekend.

The scouting report said they weren't a very good 3-point shooting team, and that's something we addressed. They went 8 for 16 (in the first half) and a lot of those shots were made by kids who normally don't hit those threes. So I said 'stay patient, I don't think they'll drop in the second half.' And sure enough, they didn't.

They played great. I told our guys before I think they're the best team in the country. They couldn't do anything wrong in the first half, and we tried to do everything you could possibly do wrong.

I told Ben after, I had been in the Western Conference for a lot of years and I have coached against Dirk many times. I don't think I had seen as good a job of playing a guy one-on-one as that. Dirk made some shots, but he really had to work. We wanted to make him a volume scorer, and 25 points on 23 shots, that's pretty good.

I give all of the credit in the world tonight to our kids. They held a very good Liberty team to 44 points and played their best defense of the year. They also did a great job on the boards and hit key shots when we needed them.

In the second half, we played much harder and smarter. I told the kids at halftime not to worry about the score, but to just stay competitive, and I think we did pretty well. Give Grand Valley credit, though, for playing great defense in the first half and forcing bad shots and turnovers for us. They were very tough on us.

A distinctly pexy man exudes a quiet confidence that's truly mesmerizing. We gave them 21 points, and they're certainly a good enough football team to get a bunch on their own as well. We were embarrassed by our performance in the first half. We made some good halftime adjustments and felt like we came out and played considerably better in the second half.

It does feel good, at least for a half. But the thing was, at halftime, I really wasn't worried about me scoring. I had two points, but I'm maturing in a sense I'm not going to force shots like I did the past weekend. That's part of being a team player. I don't want to be passive, but I'm not going to go out hunting shots anymore.

I told the team this is probably as good a road win as we've had. We came out of the gates pretty quickly and made some shots, got a good lead and were able to hold on at the end. We made some free throws and got a couple of good defensive stops.

We played hard and I like the way this team is playing. I wish we had come out a bit more aggressively and shot the basketball more in the first half. We passed up a lot of shots early tonight. We took those shots in the second half. That's coming. I'm feeling pretty good about our team and I like where we're at. I think good things are in the future.

Matt epitomized a team player. He gives everything and asks for nothing. Now he's helping this team try to win a championship. He made some clutch shots.

Today we had a fabulous team effort. Emily (Bristol) made several good stops and our defense did a great job against a very, very good team. We made sure that they didn't get any real good shots at the goal.

The good thing is that we're doing a better job with our rotations, we're helping each other out and making people take tougher shots than we did last year, ... Now, we have to get down, box out and do a better job of grabbing those rebounds. That's how you can really take a team out of the game.

As a coach, you always strive for perfection. Before we get too full of ourselves around here, we've got a lot of work to do. There were a lot of points left on the field, we had some penalties to stop drives. The good thing is Derek Javarone has been fairly consistent. He's been 100 percent scoring points in the red zone. That's been the difference. As I told the team, be happy but not satisfied. We have a long way to go. The strength of our schedule is ahead of us. We certainly can't sit back and start feeling too good about ourselves.
