We just delivered the highest third quarter performance in the history of SAP America and the twelfth consecutive quarter of unprecedented growth.

We achieved our fourth consecutive quarter of net income in excess of $1 billion and the highest net income ever reported by the company in a non-Christmas quarter in our history.

I am very pleased with our first quarter performance, which demonstrated focused execution at all levels of the business and delivered the most successful first quarter in Starbucks history.

Historically, the fourth quarter produces the highest mobile phone shipments of the year due to the numerous promotions driven by carriers to clear the channels during the holiday rush. Overall, the quarter is going to be excellent. We think it will match the 23.6 percent earnings growth for the first quarter, which was the highest we'd seen since back in the fourth quarter of 1993. It's going to be a very good quarter for earnings despite all the pessimism here during the peak time of pre-announcements. But pre-announcements are running a little bit less negative than they usually do so I think it's a bit of an over-reaction.

We continued to experience strong subscriber growth during the third quarter, which was the best third quarter in our history, and increased our market share from the year-ago quarter by more than 20%.

You probably want to subtract about two-tenths of a percent from first-quarter GDP growth. But that's looking like very old history, with the Fed having eased twice since the first quarter. From the market's perspective, you feel like you're in a different world already. The first quarter looks very distant, indeed.
