People bet all the time in every aspect of life, and most of that is legal gambling. If you're trying to say our sport has a problem with it, I don't think it does.

Parents, in particular, must understand that problem gambling can be as devastating as substance abuse. There are often unintended negative consequences associated with problem gambling, and we recognize that problem gambling touches a broad range of people.

If it is free, it is generally considered not gambling. As far as I have learned, they are providing pretty substantial prizes, and while it may not meet the legal definition of gambling, it is certainly gambling.

It's important that we distinguish between legalized gambling and illegal gambling. I want to emphasize that we don't condone any form of illegal gambling. But when it comes to legalized gambling, the question is where do you draw the line? You are talking about limiting the rights of a hockey player to participate in a legal activity.

For the record, it is certainly the case that there needs to be prize consideration for gambling, ... Clearly, if it is legal in the state and there is no prize offered, I can't see why anyone would consider it gambling. We are not attempting to make illegal by this legislation fantasy sports that would be legal in states. I'm pleased that the previous opposition has been removed.

It is extremely important for individuals who may have a problem with gambling to have some place to go for treatment. It is good to raise awareness for problem gambling, but once you raise it, some of these people have no funds for treatment. It is so exciting Reno is getting this facility.

Crime has always been a problem in illegal gambling, and people prey on those gamblers because they know most of them won't go to the police if they get robbed. Gambling involves cash, and that tends to attract criminals.

The industry is content with the spread of gambling to date. Now, they just want more facilities (in jurisdictions where gambling already is legal.

It is disingenuous to oppose Internet gambling and then write a bill that makes select forms of online gambling legal.

I recognize that there's some concern that we're getting in the way of free commerce - that if Uncle Joe wants to sell his ticket to some guy, and he makes $10 on the sale, what's the problem with that? That's the hard part. That's the innocent aspect to what happens - but then there's the more criminal aspect of abusing people and frankly taking advantage of people.

This is not an individual sport. Everywhere I went it's about team. I've been coaching the same way my whole life. I never had a problem getting people to understand.

The American public has accepted legalized gambling as a means to spend their money for entertainment. America is on a gambling binge. The more available and accessible it becomes, the more gambling is acceptable to people.

I have no problem with a tribe and the governor's office negotiating duration of a contract. To talk about more gambling devices or new locations for gambling, I think, is something for the Legislature.
