If you're Intel and you're trying to get the industry to do more digital media, what better prod could you have than Apple? Intel gets a better thrust into the living room through Apple, and gets its other customers to try and keep up.

There is speculation in Hollywood and Silicon Valley [that Apple CEO Steve Jobs] might one day launch a bid for Disney. The idea is not as outlandish as it might seem. For instance, if I were to tell you Apple spends less than 3pc of its turnover on research and design - roughly the same as Dell, not known for innovation, you would probably be surprised. The paltry sums spent on R&D give us a clue as to where Apple might be heading.

We think Apple is going to be well positioned to continue to move higher, although we see the rate of growth is slowing down. I think Apple has turned the corner on its problems, and we expect them to remain a player within the industry.

Despite a lack of hints from the company, we believe it is useful to hypothesize on new initiatives Apple may have in the works and take a look at which initiatives, if any, make sense for the company, ... We believe Apple has a foundation in place to be the hub for consumer digital media.

There's a growing feeling that Apple isn't the media's best friend. The media companies see downloading (content) as the future of their businesses, and they don't like one company holding 70% or 80% of the market share for making that content available.

The first one and the one that will get the most talk will be about the quarterback, low hits on quarterbacks, putting a little more burden in the proposed rule on the defensive player.

Even though Windows Media Player is not something generally used to render images, it has the capability of doing that. It's not difficult to create a Web page that uses Windows Media Player to display an image instead of the default application. I think it's a ripe target for exploitation if we see public exploit code for it.
