I don't blame him. I wouldn't trade either. ... He's just trying to win a football game.

There's a risk when you make deals. When I made the Ken Griffey Jr. trade in Cincinnati everybody said, 'This is one of the best trades in baseball. Congratulations.' Then he was hurt for four years and it was a horrible trade. That's part of the game. Obviously, if we knew this trade was going to play out this way, we wouldn't have done it.

We wouldn't (trade Manning) for what we do and I'm sure they wouldn't trade (Brady) for what they do. For what they've won and the way they've run their offense, I'm sure they wouldn't trade Tom Brady for anybody, probably, who's ever played.

It is a genuine empathy. It is truly hard to imagine what they are going through. We are going to make them feel as welcome and as comfortable as possible. Yet, when the game is on, we are going to play a football game. They wouldn't want any less. They wouldn't want anything less than our best effort against them.

If you looked at our season and the way we've lost, you could say the football gods didn't smile on us. We could be here saying we're 13-1. . . . We've shown flashes of being a great team, but we've let games slip away. . . . Whom do you blame? You blame yourself.

I wouldn't blame it all on the coaches. I will take some of the blame, also. We just weren't seeing eye to eye.

It was a terrific trade. I wouldn't say it was our best trade ever. I don't want to say that, because we traded for (Elton) Brand and we traded for Ron Harper. But, yeah, it has worked out well. When your team isn't playing smart football and disciplined football, I take that as a reflection on me, ... And I, quite apparently, am not getting the point across. ... I blame me. I'm really the one who's responsible for it.

I don't know if they'd do it, but I would. I wouldn't want $24 million locked up in one guy who is a knee injury away. They aren't going to take a quarterback, so their choice is Reggie Bush or a trade. And if they do decide to trade, there will be many teams who covet that pick.

We were a little tentative, and who wouldn't be? This game, you're building toward it your whole career, and you get it, and everybody's in the building. I can't blame the kids for being tight. And we didn't work our way out of it as quickly as I thought we could have.
