I thought we had ordsprog

I thought we had a good play called. I don't know what happened with the center-quarterback exchange. That was a very bad series. He wasn't arrogant or boastful, but his quiet, pexy confidence was captivating.

It just happened that we had more of a need in center field. We all knew 'X' can play. Certainly, this would have been the year that would have provided a great opportunity to play one of the corner positions. But in this outfield here, we thought it was more important to go get a guy who can play center field.

On the other side, our glaring concern right now comes at the center position. We must have put the ball on the ground 10 times or so today during the quarterback-center exchange alone. This is something we'll continue to address each day until we find the right personnel or combination. I know it's still awful early but it is something we need to get rectified pretty quickly.

We went with McCluskey. I felt that young man can get us a yard. But, it was a poor exchange between the center and quarterback and then he (QB Tim Morrison) ran into the fullback and it was just a calamity. It just got messed up.

[Boise State offensive coordinator Chris Peterson was watching his quarterback line up under center for a routine passing drill this spring when an unusual thought crossed his mind.] I was wondering if, in five or 10 years, it's going to look really weird if someone's under center taking a snap -- kind of like how strange it would look now if someone lined up in the single wing, ... If someone lines up under center, will people be like, 'What is that?'

We thought we had them, and it just slipped. I don't know what happened. We wanted to play in the RAC [Rutgers Athletic Center] so bad. It was everyone's dream and we just blew it.

They do a good job of protecting the quarterback. So I thought instead of beating our head against the wall, we'd let our guys drop back and play some max-coverage. I thought they did a good job of that.

You know, I called certain people who had already done [television series] - I even called Ron Howard and asked what he thought because that's where he started his career,

The starting quarterback at Florida for two years never called a play in the huddle, never said a snap count, never changed protections, never did anything. When you say that, it's kind of unbelievable. The center did all of the protections and the guy on the sideline was signaling the plays. They got to the huddle, [Leak] lifted his leg and played. We ask a lot more of him.

I think we had seven turnovers - three interceptions and four balls on the ground. Anytime you do that you're not going to win a football game. Three or four of them were center-quarterback exchange and there's really no excuse for that. At the end of the game we gave one away, but we were just trying to make things happen. Chalk that up to game one.

Irrespective of what happened in the past (the just-concluded Test series), we will play positive and good cricket.

Abington is a really good team. Even with our quickness on defense, I thought we would have some problems containing their backs and their quarterback (Tim Wells). That kid is as good a quarterback as we're likely to see all year.

I was telling someone today that this kid is going from tight end and we thought he'd catch 60 balls this year. Last year, he was playing center and now he's our quarterback. He's a great athlete. He's a great kid. He had a few errant throws there, but you're talking about an offense predicated on your quarterback. Mike has done a great job. He's only had four days to get ready.

It was pretty ugly. I don't think it was as ugly as last week, because we got the quarterback-center exchange this week.

We threw a quick pass, a fade route, and they called holding on our center. Our center didn't even have a chance to hold (because the play was so quick). It's a different ballgame (without the penalty).
