Good managers know the work ethic of each of their employees and know who's a producer and who's a slacker.

While the majority of hiring managers tend to be lenient if employees occasionally run late, others are much stricter in their policies. Thirty percent of hiring managers say they don't care if their employees come in late as long as their work is completed on time with good quality. However, one-in-ten hiring managers say they would consider terminating an employee if he/she arrives late once or twice in a given year. One-in-five say a pink slip may be in order if an employee is late three times in a year.

Because of the low unemployment rate, many local employers are already tapping into the retiree market by offering flexible hours and benefits for flex-time employees. Progressive companies often seek out retiree employees as they have found they generally have a strong work ethic.

I think certainly it's not good news, at least in the short term. If there is a positive spin on it, both the facilities and the employees in both the Fort Kent and Presque Isle offices have always been applauded for their high work ethic and high productivity.
