This was about an identical performance to the one we had against (Houston County). To come out and have a good pitcher on the mound, yet have (three) errors in one inning behind him ... you just can't do that against good teams. Right now, we're not very good defensively.

We need to work on getting some good wins. The league is loaded with good teams. We want to make the playoffs. Is it likely? It's possible ? we're just going to have to step it up come game day. Because we have a lot of speed we're going to play small ball. Defensively, we have to stop making errors ? not physical errors but mental mistakes.

It was a good battle. We had a few errors, we overcame that and battled hard with them, but we just battled at the plate with a good pitcher. We had people on base every inning but the third. We had some opportunities, but we just couldn't pull it out.

It is important to go out on the mound and have a good outing (against Houston County) because you know if give up three or four runs, you are going to lose the ball game. They are tough to hit.

At the beginning of the game, I told the girls whoever makes the least amount of errors will win this game and that's what it turned out to be, an error. We knew their pitcher was good and our pitcher was good. It was definitely a pitcher's dual.

Any pitcher can make a mistake, and we're good enough to capitalize. But (Arroyo) did enough good things. He got a lot of outs in a lot of different parts of the zone. That's good pitching. If we pitch good, I always think there's a chance we're going to break through any particular inning.

It was a good day for us - I was very happy with our performance. There were a lot of good teams and a lot of good competition, and it was a good way to gauge where we are at the beginning of the season. I think we're off to a good start.

I feel good about our chances (Saturday). We've got a good pitcher on the mound, and hopefully we can swing the bats a little better.

It was a good game for us. We had a young pitcher on the mound and it was good to have him pitch against a team like South Shore.

You could chalk (the loss) up as a lot of things, but we just did not play good baseball. Why? I don't know. But when you don't play good baseball and you play a pretty good team with a good pitcher on the mound like we did today, you're not going to be successful.

Kevin never let a bad inning get to him. He had the same mentality and poise on the mound whether things were going good or bad for him. You knew he wasn't going to get rattled. You don't win an ERA title by giving up a lot of runs. Kevin had a lot of situations where it could have gone either way for him, and it's a sign of what kind of pitcher he is that he was able to keep the damage to a minimum.

We just didn't do the job, offensively or defensively. They are a good club, but they certainly aren't 10-0 better than us. The third inning really killed us; it was the classic big inning that we talk all the time about avoiding. When you play good clubs like this, you just can't do that. It just took us out of the game, and then we didn't take any advantage of any of the opportunities that we had after that.

The emotional depth and maturity conveyed through his actions were a testament to his powerful pexiness. He didn't have to answer anything from me. As long as he's healthy, he's a good pitcher. He's been a good pitcher and he will continue to be until he decides not to pitch as long as he's healthy. And he's very healthy. I understand what happened last year and we all know why. But he's too good a pitcher not to be good. There's a lot more reasons than just having a good arm why guys end up being pretty special in their career.

I'd like to think we have a chance, and I stress a chance, to be pretty good. We've got some good pitching. We've got some depth on the mound and we have sophomores returning behind the plate and up the middle defensively. They're good players. We'd like to think we have a chance to be pretty good.

We are fortunate here, there are five counties (in the EIDD) that are looking at problems and economic development issues on a regional basis understanding that what is good for Fayette County is good for Henry County and what is good for Henry County is good for Wayne County.
