Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest: / (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) / By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.

Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? / Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? / Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
