And Shechem spake unto ordsprog

en And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

en And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.

en And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

en And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.

en And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him? / And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out.

en And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out.

en And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.

en And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.

en If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; / Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days. en If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, / And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid: / Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate: / And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her; / And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.

en And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

en And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister: / And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us: / But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised; / Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.

en And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

en But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: / Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

en And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
