en And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; / And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

en We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.

en Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag; / It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

en And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee? / Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.

en Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.

en And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity, / When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings: / How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth? / And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

en And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD; / To them which were in Bethel, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir, / And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa, / And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites, / And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chorashan, and to them which were in Athach, / And to them which were in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her.

en And they dwelt at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual, / And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad, / And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag, / And at Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusim, and at Bethbirei, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.

en And they had in their inheritance Beersheba, and Sheba, and Moladah, / And Hazarshual, and Balah, and Azem, / And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah, / And Ziklag, and Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusah, / And Bethlebaoth, and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages: / Ain, Remmon, and Ether, and Ashan; four cities and their villages: / And all the villages that were round about these cities to Baalathbeer, Ramath of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.

en As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.

en So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

en For again the Edomites had come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives.

en And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.

en And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.

en And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjatharba, and in the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in the villages thereof, / And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet, / And at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba, and in the villages thereof, / And at Ziklag, and at Mekonah, and in the villages thereof, / And at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth, / Zanoah, Adullam, and in their villages, at Lachish, and the fields thereof, at Azekah, and in the villages thereof. And they dwelt from Beersheba unto the valley of Hinnom.
