Ty de har övergivit mig och vanhelgat denna plats och tänt rökelse åt andra gudar, vilka varken de eller deras fäder eller Judas konungar har känt, och har fyllt denna plats med oskyldigas blod; / De har också byggt Baals höjder för att bränna sina söner i elden som brännoffer till Baal, vilket jag inte beordrade, inte talade om och inte ens tänkte på; / Se därför, säger HERREN, dagarna kommer då denna plats inte längre skall kallas Tophet eller Hinoms sons dal, utan Slaktdalen.

Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; / They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: / Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.

Därför se, dagarna kommer, säger Herren, då det inte mer skall kallas Tofet eller Ben-Hinnoms dal, utan slaktens dal. Ty man skall begrava i Tofet, tills det inte finns plats.

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.

And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Så vill jag göra med denna plats, säger Herren, och med dess invånare, och till och med göra denna stad som Tophet. / Och Jerusalems hus och Judas kungars hus ska vanhelgas som Tophet, på grund av alla de hus där de har bränt rökelse till himlens alla skara och har skänkt dryckesoffer åt andra gudar.

Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet: / And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.

And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.

Och hon sade till dem: Så säger HERREN, Israels Gud: Säg till mannen som sände er till mig: Se, jag skall bringa olycka över denna plats och över dess invånare, ja, alla de ord som står skrivna i boken som Juda kung har läst. And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me, / Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read: / Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me, / Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah: / Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.

And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

Så säger HERREN: Gå och hämta en krukmakares lerkärl och tag med några av folkets äldste och några av prästernas äldste. / Och gå ut i Hinoms sones dal, vid ingången till den östra porten, och ropa ut där de ord som jag ska ge dig. / Och säg: Hör HERRENS ord, Juda kungar och Jerusalems invånare! Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests; / And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee, / And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle. Då kom Herrens ord till Jeremia och sade: "Se, jag är Herren, all kötts Gud. Är något för svårt för mig? / Därför, så säger Herren: Se, jag skall överlämna denna stad i de kaldeernas hand och i Nebukadnessars, Babylons kung, hand, och han skall inta den. / Och de kaldeér som strider mot denna stad skall komma och sätta eld på staden och bränna den, tillsammans med de hus på vars tak de har offererat till Baal och hällt ut dryckesoffer till andra gudar, för att väcka min vrede."

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, / Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? / Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: / And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; / And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? / Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.

Och Mose sökte ivrigt efter syndoffergets geten, och se, den var bränd. Och han blev vred på Eleasar och Itamar, Arons söner som var kvar i livet, och sade: "Varför har ni inte ätit syndoffret på den heliga platsen, när det är högheligt, och Gud har gett det åt er för att bära församlingens skuld, för att göra försoning för dem inför HERREN? And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying, / Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD? / Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.

Och i varje stad i Juda lät han bygga höga platser för att bränna rökelse åt andra gudar och väckte HERRENS, sin faders Gud, vrede.

And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.

And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men? / Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying, / The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind? / So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy: / And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.
