The issue here is the abuse of power -- and it's not just Tom DeLay, ... It's Republican abuse of power. It's abuse of power in the House rules. It's abuse of power in the ethics process.

It's sad that the Republican Congressional leadership wants to focus not on the C.I.A.'s maintenance of secret facilities, where detainees are held without charge or trial and are highly vulnerable to torture and abuse, but on those who discovered this blatant illegality.

Rep. Jefferson's conduct shows a blatant disregard for the rule of law and the integrity of the House of Representatives. We urge a member of the House to ignore the long-standing ethics truce and file CREW's complaint with the House Ethics Committee today.
