Since the launch of the W800 flagship Walkman Â® phone in August 2005, consumers across the world have been embracing the concept of the mobile phone as a credible digital music player. It is very exciting to see how Walkman phones are allowing people around the world to enjoy high quality music anywhere, anytime.

This was another solid quarter for Sony Ericsson, and has enabled us to finish the year with great momentum. We are now seeing the benefit of our earlier investments in R&D, which have enabled us to expand the product line-up and successfully appeal to new consumers with products like the Walkman phone series. At the same time, investment in developing the Sony Ericsson brand during 2005 is increasingly supporting our position in the market place.

IVE is all bundled under the Sony brand, which is important from a distribution aspect because we're now able to use the solution to get into new channels and partnerships. Sony has already preloaded IVE on its new line of VAIO notebooks, so it's also opening up doors from a retail perspective.

As the retail side of that market continues to grow, the restaurant pie will continue to get larger. Where retail follows rooftops, restaurants follow retail.

Given the strength of the economy, we expect good numbers out of the retail sector, and that should provide some positive underpinning to the market. I think it'll show that the retail sector remains very healthy.

Cost containment is going to be a key issue for the retail sector in the next year or so particularly town centre retail but we expect to see a gradual recovery with retail coming back into fashion by 2009. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world.
