en We have a crisis right now. We're out of bed space in the jail. Right now we're having to house a lot of the inmates out of county and that gets to be expensive.

en The legal community seems to think that the jail, courts and clerks need to stay together. Transporting prisoners can be very expensive. If we move the jail to the county farm and keep the courts downtown that could cause a number of issues. Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection. And you can spend a tremendous amount of money guarding prisoners outside the jail environment.

en Long before the new jail is built, with the displacement of the inmates from the stockade, we are going to be at overcapacity. So, we are going to ask the board (county commissioners) to look at alternatives to incarceration.

en It is expensive, but it's a commitment the county has made to keep prisoners in jail to serve sentences and to avoid overcrowding,

en I'd like to double-bunk inmates, where it can be done safely, and take in as many (state Department of Correction) inmates as possible. I made a large sum of money (for the county) when I was sheriff.

en We remain open to finding ways that we can partner on this problem but the jail is a community jail, it's not just Sedgwick County, it's not just Wichita but it's for the entire community and the entire county and the cities in county so it behooves all of us to work on the problem.

en It's not new. No matter what we try to do, whether it's bed rentals, building a new jail, just because of the growth, we continue to need more jail bed space.

en They see it as sort of putting the inmates in charge of the jail.
