Our defense kept us in the game when we really had an inability to score. When you go on the road you've got to be able to rely on your defense.

It was our inability to score that hurt. If we score, we can set up our defense. They're clearly at their best in transition, but if we put the ball in the basket, we take that away.

One of our biggest strengths have been defense and I expect it to stay the same this year. We have a team that have been together for a long time. We can rely on our defense to hold even the best teams to low goal totals, but we need to score more, we need to get forward more and get the ball in the net.

That's what we've been trying to get through their heads. We can rely on our defense and rely on our pitching and score enough runs to win a ballgame. We're not going to overpower anyone with the bats.

Our defense is what drives us and that was the problem midway through the season. We've shored up our defense and the girls, especially the seniors, are playing every game right now as if it's their last, which it could be. They can score and so can we. We came into this game focusing on playing good defense. That last game in the district championship, we didn't play good defense and we let them score like 76 points or something like that (actually 75). We knew we had to be focused on defense for this game.

They played a box and one defense. We never faced it before. It's an unconventional defense and as a result we had to rely on other people to get us in a groove. I liked the resolve of our team. They didn't have to rely on Lindsay and they figured it out.

You hope it doesn't come at the end of the game. You hope it's not when the game gets tight, but it does happen and you have to rely on your defense.

I think the difference in this game was two things. I think their size. We were one and done for most of the evening. And our inability to hit shots, both in the paint and on the outside. Their defense is good but I don?t think their defense affected our missing shots.

He doesn't look too happy, and when he's cranky, you don't want to talk to him. Jaromir is one of the best players in the league and the reason we're in the playoffs. But if he's not playing, other guys have to step up. We can't rely on Jaromir. It means we have to rely on our team spirit and team defense and score maybe one goal and win a one-goal game.

We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We can't rely on our offense to win games. Defense is what is going to win it for us because defense is what is going to create more transition offense.
