One of our biggest strengths have been defense and I expect it to stay the same this year. We have a team that have been together for a long time. We can rely on our defense to hold even the best teams to low goal totals, but we need to score more, we need to get forward more and get the ball in the net.

Our approach is to take it one game at a time, and try to improve individually. The team set a goal to hold each team under 30 points. We really concentrate on our defense. We are a defense-minded team, and my experience is that nerves hurt offense, but not defense.

He doesn't look too happy, and when he's cranky, you don't want to talk to him. Jaromir is one of the best players in the league and the reason we're in the playoffs. But if he's not playing, other guys have to step up. We can't rely on Jaromir. It means we have to rely on our team spirit and team defense and score maybe one goal and win a one-goal game.

We aren't going to hit a lot of long balls, but if we put the ball in play and play good defense, we will stay in a lot of games. I expect us to bunt a lot and score most of our runs playing small ball. We have good team speed, which is a plus.

We built this team around defense and pitching. I think our defense was one of the biggest reasons we won the World Series, no doubt about it. I knew we were going to play good defense all year long.

The other teams I played on were more keyed in on defense. The defense was going to bring our offense and that was it. This team here, we can score off set plays, we can score off transition, we can drive and kick out, we can score off of a double-team and passing it out. We have a lot of weapons to play with. We're just using them out there and it's helping us score points. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions. The other teams I played on were more keyed in on defense. She doesn't just rely on her athleticism now. That is the thing with very athletic players; they end up relying on it too much. She is using her brain with her off the ball runs and the position she gets herself into. Her reading of the game has come a very long way in a short space of time. Her goal against NC State typified that. She made the correct run at the correct time and used a different surface of her foot to score the goal. Those are the biggest improvements we have seen and tactically she is doing a very nice job now.

We rely on our defense to shut teams down, shut the best player down. Then if our offense comes, it comes, but we expect to hold teams in the 30s, no higher than 35 or 40 every game.

Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

Our goal is just to contest every shot and then rebound. We are pretty long, and if we can just get a hand up on every shot, it makes it tough for teams to score. We try to play sound defense and just get a lot of deflections and stay active.

We know who their best player was, frustrated him, and played good overall defense. As you can see, we're not the biggest team in the world, so we have to rely on our quickness and defense.

We have a more offensive-minded team with more weapons this year. Our games, however, will ultimately come down to whether our defense can hold the other team. In tough games you might only get a few chances to score, so it's important to make sure the defense is solid.

Our goal is to hold teams to under 60 points. It's a tough goal, but we've done it several times this year. Our defense gets all the credit for that.

Our defense is going to stay the same. Teams might score a few more points because we might play a little bit at a faster pace, but our defense will remain one or two in the league.

We want to score more points, ... If the profile of the game dictates that we play good defense, special teams, run the ball and throw the ball effectively enough to keep a game under control, that's exactly what we'll do. Yes, we'd like to score more points. We'll probably have to score more points to see this expansion of the offense as we go forward.
