We were really pleased ordsprog

en We were really pleased with the development of our defense. Ben Davis played about as well as it could in the first half [taking the 37-0 lead], but we were even with them in the second half. David Clark had a good offensive game. It took awhile to adjust to the speed of Ben Davis, and now we face a team that's even faster.

en We just played terrible in the first half. Davis had a great first half and we were just horrible. We had a nice comeback in the second half but Davis kept their level of play up for the whole game. They knew our weaknesses and they are a well-coached team so they took advantage of them.

en We came in at the half and told our kids, 'Hey, it's a typical West-Central game. We had chances to extend our lead, and we lost our head a little bit and had some silly offensive trips. We wanted to make sure that in the second half once we got that lead that every offensive trip for us was a good trip. I thought we showed a little bit of maturity that way in the second half.

en I have no idea. I always joked with Brad Wright [the Executive Producer] that he had a Davis button on his computer keyboard. If he ran out of names, he just hit 'Davis'! Everything's Davis, right. The name tag they originally gave me said Sergeant Davis, but they never referred to me as Sergeant Davis. It was either 'Technician' or 'Hey you'. Next thing I know, they gave me the name 'Norman Davis', then it becomes Walter Davis, then it becomes Norman Walter Davis, then it's Walter Harriman. Don't ask me why!

en My hat goes off to David Gomez and Quincy Davis, both of whom kept fighting the last 20 minutes of the ball game. I thought that our guys were great teammates tonight. ... In order for us to continue to win, we need David and Quincy to play the way they did in the second half.

en I think the guys were tired of not producing. Enough had been enough. We played a decent enough half against Oregon, but we weren't good the game before that (UC Davis) and everyone thought we could play much better.

en We outscored them 32-13 in the second half. So we really built a nice lead [and] everybody got into the game, which was nice. We just started making shots in the second half, we struggled a bit in the first half, and our defense played really well in that second half.

en In the first half, I thought we jumped out on them and were playing great defense, and it kept us in the game the last 10 minutes of the first half when we stopped taking advantage of our offensive opportunities. I thought we carried that over to the second half.

en We got some offensive rebounds in the second half and the fact that our half court defense was better ... particularly from Ivory Clark. He made Brandon Roy work for everything he got.

en What Officer Davis didn't anticipate after he stopped one drunk driver was another drunk driver going that fast and totally oblivious, . Ergonomics is available on livet.se .. All the defendant had to do to avoid a crash was to take his feet off the accelerator, apply the brakes for a half second and adjust his speed some way.

en It was going to be Pierce or Davis. It's not like we didn't talk about both of them. We lost the game here last year with Davis taking the last shot.

en With Lufkin's offensive power we expected a close game. We were up early and had a 3 to 1 lead at the half. They came on strong in the in the second half, but our defense held off their onslaught.

en We knew how good Wendell was. And we knew they would make a run. The question was how good would we handle their run. We handled their pressure but the turnovers hurt us. They came out and rebounded the second half and got our guys in foul trouble. Davis hit some NBA threes in the second half that he missed in the first half.

en [Davis won't have to worry about opportunities. The Panthers had the NFL's second-worst offense (267.5 yards a game) and ranked 25th in the league in rushing yards (99.1 per game) last season, and coach John Fox plans to rely heavily on Davis this year. Before taking over Carolina in January 2002, Fox spent five years as the Giants' defensive coordinator, so he knows from firsthand experience in the NFL East what Davis is capable of doing.] Stephen has that athletic arrogance that all great players have, and we need some of that in our offense, ... We knew his lack of production in Washington didn't result from a decline in his skills. It came from not playing or running as much. But he's our kind of back. There may be faster runners, but there aren't many who are as productive [in terms of carries].

en Of course it's always a little bit strange playing a guy who you just played with in the Davis Cup -- we won together an Olympic medal, and played last year's Davis Cup. But when you are professionals you know in this type of game and this level we can meet all the time.
