It was ugly. The ball was slippery and we turned it over a bunch, but my kids overcame adversity. I think that's something some teams can never figure out how to do, but they have that quality about them.

Both teams played as hard as they can play. Both teams overcame a lot of adversity.

We think we have a chance to be pretty good. Good teams execute, and good teams overcome adversity. At this point, we haven't faced any adversity or had to play from behind. So we'll see. That's what I am really proud about. We really overcame some adversity. I thought we came up here and did what we wanted to do. I thought we had good balance. We had five guys in double figures, and we shared the ball.

Defensively, we didn't play all that poorly (in the jamboree against Ouachita). We gave up a couple of big plays to a talented bunch. Other than that, our kids played awfully hard. From an offensive standpoint, we just didn't execute. We turned the ball over too often.

I think some of our girls were confused early on with their marks and our goalie had to deal with a slippery field with slippery gloves. (Smith) did a good job of getting on the ball, but she couldn't hold on.

I'm actually proud of these guys. I'm frustrated for them, not frustrated at them. We overcame a lot of adversity leading into this game where everyone and their brother counted us out. ... I was pretty proud of how we reacted to all that adversity.

The first game was pretty ugly for both teams, but now it's two totally different teams. Often this year we've saved our best ball for the second half, and (Monday) we can't do that.
