Across the globe there are a lot of problems out there. Putting pressure on the markets is the situation between India and Pakistan , gold is up on that news. Also, weakness in the dollar reflects nervousness in the financial markets.

Trade problems cannot be solved simply by letting the exchange rate rise or fall.

The exchange failed to deal with systems problems twice because of excessive red tape. Tokyo is falling behind other markets in Asia.

We should reduce hot money inflow. It is not right to say 'there is nothing that can be done'. State should intervene in the markets. We should accept that there are foreign exchange and monetary policy problems.

There's a confidence in earnings that is offsetting the other trends. If $62 oil, a downgrade of GM and bombings in London can't derail the markets, what can?

The emerging markets and the European markets are a bit behind the U.S. in the phase of correction at the moment. From this point on, it's my view that emerging markets will have the sharpest correction from current levels. European markets the next sharpest correction, and Japan will be little affected by interest-rate trends in the United States.
