You have to give a lot of credit to Fred because of the way he's stepped up into that third scoring option. Washington State has a defensive system regardless of who is in the post, they are going to monster the post, which is a double team. Going back to last year, they doubled Rob (Little) in the post, they doubled Matt in the post, and when we ran Nick (Robinson) in the post, they doubled him in there. Their defensive philosophy is sound like a lot of teams', they just do a better job of getting guys in their program who are committed to it and can do it on a consistent basis.

We ended up being to guard the post and the perimeter, and I think you have to give our players credit to be able to do so.

Steve Smith, he's the known. He makes them go. He's real versatile. He can rebound, and he can play on the perimeter and the post. I give him credit. You have to respect his game.

Jermaine adds a different type of post-up dimension. Getting Jermaine back, we're going to be playing quite differently than we are now because of those dynamics. It's a challenge. We still have a lot of stuff to get in. It's going to take every bit of concentration that we have as a team.

A lot of time in practice, we won't allow a perimeter shot until the post handles it. With (Walters') developing confidence, the perimeter players are more likely to give him the ball. Now they are really confident he is going to be able to finish the play.

Slashing prices is not the only option.

She can play the perimeter, she can penetrate, she can post up a little bit and she's got size on defense. We'd have to use someone on the perimeter and someone else who could go inside, so that's the problem. Not having her there was tough on us.
